Vikram Sharma joined Freshworks in 2014 as Engineering Manager for a twelve-person team working on what was then a minor product called Freshdesk. Nine years later, that product generates $120 million in annual recurring revenue and he leads 180 engineers across three countries as Vice President of Engineering — one of the more senior Indian technology leaders in global SaaS, promoted to VP in 2019 as the youngest in Freshworks' engineering history at the time.
"The best engineers are not the ones who write the most elegant code. They are the ones who understand that the code serves people — and who take that seriously enough to lose sleep over it."
Before Freshworks, seven years at Infosys and Flipkart shaped his approach to distributed systems — the Flipkart years in particular, spent on logistics technology during the company's most consequential growth period, scaling order-handling capacity from 10,000 to 8 million orders per day.
NASSCOM recognised his engineering leadership among its Top 10 Tech Leaders in 2023; IIT Delhi, where he graduated with a place on the Institute Merit List in all four years, named him a Distinguished Alumnus in 2022.
